Tour Guide Safety PPE
Ensuring the safety of tour guides and their guests is crucial. Here are some health and safety protocols specifically designed for tour guides:
- Temperature Scanning:
- Tour Guide Safety PPE should ensure that passengers are pre-scanned (where possible) by hotels using an infrared handheld temperature gun before entry into the vehicle.
- Education and training on safe practices related to personal hygiene, sanitation, and illness policies outlined by the Ministry of Health and Wellness are essential for all tour guides.
- Hand Hygiene:
- Tour Guide Safety PPE must wash their hands after every trip with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
- If soap and water are not available, they should use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer containing at least 70% alcohol.
- Guides are also required to spray guests’ hands with hand sanitizer (at least 70% alcohol) immediately before entering the transport vehicle.
- Face Masks and Social Distancing:
- Tour Guide Safety PPE must wear face masks when in close proximity to each other.
- Passengers should wear face masks before entering the vehicle.
- Social distancing of at least 3 feet between passengers during boarding and disembarking is strictly adhered to.
- Boarding should follow staggered loading from the rear of the bus first (back to front) and disembarking from front to back.
- Avoiding Contact and Sanitization:
- Tour Guide Safety PPE should avoid touching their eyes, nose, or mouth.
- They must avoid contact with sick individuals.
- Reusable pricing sheets or menus should not be shared with guests. Instead, information can be posted on signage boards or via digital media.
- If disposable pricing sheets are used, they cannot be reused.
- Customers should be encouraged to use their own pens for signing forms, and if not possible, pens should be sanitized after each use.
Remember, these protocols are essential to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and maintain a safe environment for everyone involved in tourism activitie. Stay safe and enjoy your tours
Tour Operators Released Official Hygiene and Safety Guidelines
Jun 18, 2020Tour operator associations have published guidelines that protect travelers from exposure to COVID-19 including mask wearing, sanitizing and social distancing.
Three tour operator associations have joined to publish the Tourcare Guidelines for Tour Operators — health and sanitization protocols specific for tour operators and their clients.
Created by the Canadian Association of Tour Operators, the European Tourism Association and the United States Tour Operators Association, the guidelines aim to take into consideration the complexity of the tour product and to account for all touchpoints of a trip.
In addition, the guidelines follow sanitization procedures recommended by the World Health Organization, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and local governmental health authorities. Several familiar best practices are included: providing passengers with personal protective equipment (PPE), such as wipes, masks and hand sanitizer, and communicating clearly when guests are required to use PPE.
I accept the T&C and Privacy Policy.
When interacting with guests, suppliers will be required to wear gloves and face masks; to disinfect high-touch areas regularly; and to employ touchless solutions when possible.
Social distancing must be promoted when viable — even on motor coaches.
Clients and employees alike should be educated on proper social distancing and hygiene measures, and both parties will be expected to adhere to these best practices. Clients will also be required to disclose whether they have tested positive or have been in contact with someone with COVID-19 within 14 days of departure.
Each tour operator association has shared the Tour Guide Safety PPE Guidelines with all tour operator members, as well as the accompanying compliance logo, a blue box marked “TC.”
